Depression Screening
Programs that offer simple tests for people who have feelings of sadness, hopelessness, restlessness and irritability; trouble sleeping; loss of energy; changes in appetite; or thoughts of suicide, and who want to learn more about clinical depression and ways of coping with their symptoms. Individuals generally have an opportunity to see a film and/or hear a talk about the causes, symptoms and treatment of depression; complete a screening questionnaire; and talk with a mental health professional about the results. People who test positively are encouraged to seek further evaluation and, potentially, treatment. Most depression screenings are confidential and available at no cost. Depression screenings may also be available by telephone or online.
